Leicester dumps Southampton in FA Cup semis, to play Chelsea in final

Leicester City dumped a resilient Southampton side at the FA Cup semifinal which was played at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening.

Both teams drew blanks in the first half with both defences remaining resolute in the better part of the first half.

Brendan Rodgers went with the usual two-man attack of Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho, five-man midfield and back three. Southampton enjoyed the possession but failed to break the Leicester City’s defence.

A single chance and the only shot on target came in the early parts of the second after Jamie Vardy sprinted with the ball on the left flank before teeing Iheanacho who scored from a rebound after Saints defence blocked his first volley.

The Foxes will now play Chelsea in the final on May 15 at Wembley Stadium. The Blues beat league leaders Manchester City thanks to a solitary goal which was scored by Hakim Ziyech on Saturday evening.
