The Vice President of Gender Cluster Rebecca Nyandeng De Mabior has received her first injection of Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

According to a statement posted on twitter from the office of the Vice President, Mama Nyandeng received her Jab on Tuesday morning.

“This morning the vice president received her first does of the Covishield, Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine upon the recommendation of her personal physician,” the tweet read.

In March 18, her office revealed that she tested positive for the disease while in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi.

Last week, her office communicated that she had successfully healed from the virus after spending time in isolation.

The post stated that, “Nyandeng is grateful to all the health workers and staffers who diligently took care of her while she was infected with the coronavirus.

The office of the vice president encourages all to remain vigilant and adhere to the ministry of health’s guidelines in order to avoid contracting and spreading the vice.’’

Mama Nyandeng became the latest high-ranking leader to contract the disease after Presidential Press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny and Central Bank Governor Dier Tong Ngor among many others.

South Sudan has so far vaccinated about 2,000 front health care workers.
