Man City beats Spurs 1-0 to clinch fourth consecutive Carabao Cup

Manchester City beat Tottenham Hotspurs at Wembley Stadium to win the Carabao Cup- their fourth in five consecutive editions.

Spurs went into the match having sacked Coach Jose Mourinho after which they installed 29-year old Ryan Mason as the interim coach till the end of the season.

Aymeric Laporter scored Manchester City’s only goal to gift Pep Guardiola’s side the trophy.

Laporte praised the team’s performance, telling Sky Sports of the UK that the win made up for their loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup.

He said, “We are so happy to win this title again. We lost in the FA Cup, so it is something good for us to get confidence and to keep going like we have done in the last few months.

“We have been so, so good and we have to keep this rhythm, this way, to win more titles.”

Guardiola also praised the gesture by his team to contain a resilient Spurs side and see off the win.

“This is amazing in this period, like everyone in lockdown suffering, a different life. We played with personality from the first minute to try to win the game. We created a lot of chances.

“They had a few minutes, some shots and some counter-attacks that were dangerous, but in general, we played a really good game.”
