The English Premier League is coming to an end today with three teams engaged in an epic battle for two Uefa Champions League slots- number three and four.
Third-placed Chelsea is travelling to Villa Park to play Aston Villa and hopefully win to maintain the position with 70 points. Chelsea beat Leicester 2-1 in the last match displacing the Foxes in the position. This was after the Blues had lost 1-0 to Leicester City in the FA Cup final making their subsequent EPL game a ‘must-win.’
At number four is Liverpool, the former champions who came all the way from number eight to redeem their fight for the European championship.
A last minute header by the goal keeper Alisson Becker ensured their 2-1 victory against relegation-bound West Bromwich Albion. But they still face an uphill task in beating fairly stable Crystal Palace who bounced back in a 3-2 victory against Aston Villa. Should Liverpool win, they will have 69 points and they will hope that either Leicester City or Chelsea will drop points this afternoon.
Leicester City plays Tottenham Hotspurs and the Foxes also have 66 points but fall short against Liverpool on goal difference.
Elsewhere, any team that will finish fifth will be playing Uefa Europa League alongside West Ham or Tottenham Hotspurs.
