Kiir appoints Buna Panek SSPDF pension fund Director General

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has appointed Bona Panek Biar as the new Director General of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces Pension Fund. Panek was appointed in a televised Republican Decree Wednesday.
Panek is a former governor of Warrap State known for his advocacy against violence and his stance of peaceful coexistence.
However, on 29th January this year, Kiir fired Mr. Panek in another decree read on the state-run South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation and appointed Aleu Ayeny Aleu in his position. No reason was given for the reason of his relieve. Aleu formerly worked at the Ministry of Interior.
Sources familiar with his appointment as the Director-General for the Sudan People’s Defense Forces Pension Fund say the position was newly established and Panek is the first person to occupy it.
