SSPDF accuses NAS of perpetrating attack in Loka

South Sudan Defence Force (SSPDF) has accused the holdout National Salvation Front of ‘scaling up offensive operations against forces and targeting civilians’ in different parts of Central Equatoria State.
SSPDF said in a press statement seen by City Review that there was a surprise attack on Commando Unit along Loka-Lukurbang road Loka in the early hours of June 10,
“The unprovoked attack and road ambush resulted in unnecessary loss of lives and weapons,” the statement read.
The SSPDF alleged that that NAS is solely responsible for the deterioration of the security situation and the immense suffering of innocent people in Central Equatoria State.
‘‘SSPDF reiterates its commitment to Cessation of Hostilities Agreement and calls upon CTSAMM-VM to investigate and hold NAS accountable,’’ SSPDF Spokesperson Lul Ruai Koang said in a statement.
There have been blame games between the NAS leadership and SSPDF over the abduction and killings in Lainya County. The two forces have lately clashed forcing the residents to flee their villages for safety.
