Italy beat Spain 4-2 on penalties to book a slot in the Euro 2 020 final against a winner between Denmark and England.
The two teams drew 1-1 in the normal time of play prompting two halves of 15 minutes which also ended in goalless necessitating the spot-kick to make the difference.
Federico Chiesa struck a few minutes after the first half to gift Italians the lead. The Juventus man landed on a loose ball after a long pass failed to find Ciro Immobile. He stumbled on the ball and launched a rocked shoot in the right corner beating Unai Simon.
Spain came back into the game attacking but failing to get a breakthrough. In the 80th minute, Alvaro Morata teamed up with Danny Olmo to hit the Italians on the break and level the scores.
However, it was the former Real Madrid and Chelsea who later turned into a villain after his penalty was comfortably saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma to gave Italy an edge. Chelsea midfielder Jorginho wrapped it up scoring from the spot to ensure Italy’s victory.
