Military coup “underway” in Sudan

A military coup is reportedly underway in Khartoum, Sudan. According to CNN, images showing the military officers surrounding the residence of the country’s Prime Minister Dr Abdalla Hamdok in Khartoum have been noticed, hence triggering the belief that the leader could be under house arrest.
A Sudanese media has also been quoted reporting that the military officers have also arrested some members of the cabinet and whisked them to jail.
According to CNN, a verification search reveals that there are no flights from Khartoum. There was only one incoming flight to the Sudanese capital as of Monday morning but there are doubts whether the plane would be allowed to land.
Also, the internet connectivity is severely low. As of Monday, the pro-military take over demonstrators were heading to the streets even as the opposers of the military coup planned a counter-demonstration.
The government, led by the PM Dr Hamdok is under pressure from some people pushing for military rule by pleading with Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan to take over power.
This would be the second coup attempt after another was thwarted in September.
