The police are still looking for the assailants who shot and injured a Kenyan man in Thongping after robbing him two weeks ago.

The Spokesperson of the South Sudan National Police Service, Maj. Gen. Daniel Justin said they are waiting for a report from the police division to apprehend the criminals.

The police boss exuded confidence that from the past assignments, his juniors have always tracked and arrested such criminals, hence; this will also be the same.

“Many cases are opened against somebody unknown like gunmen and so on but later on through our work, we reach the suspects.

“In regard to the case of the Kenyan, I don’t have information right now unless I check with the police division because usually when such cases are investigated, we deploy our CID to go around to and gather more information…Our forces will give us information to help us reach the criminals,” he said.

The incident

Peter Maina, 24, had an encounter with criminals while he was returning home from work along Airport Road at around 8 pm.

According to Maina, two strangers narrowed towards him and ordered him to sit down as they carried out their ordeal, taking the wallet with all his money and documents as well as the phone from him.

After giving up everything, he thought it was wise to request his Identity Card from the short man whose orders he had been obeying.

But the other armed man shot him once in the chest.

“The sound of the gun sent them on their heels,” he explained.

“I did not think they would do that because I did not quarrel with them. I was pleading with them and immediately I heard the sound of the gun,” he told The City Review last week.

“I surprisingly found myself on the floor. I was not expecting to be shot because I had given up my property including money and phone to them. I don’t understand why they wanted to take my life.”

He revealed that the case was being monitored by the military because he had his treatment at the Giada military hospital.

He condemned criminals for taking things from people and still wanting to take their lives again.
