The government has done the final touches and it could announce the results of the 2020 South Sudan Secondary School Examination at any time.
The development came after President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday approved the release of the results of the certificate of the 2020 South Sudan Secondary School Examination.
President Kiir met the Minister of General Education and Instruction (MOGEI) Awut Deng Acuil where he was briefed on the progress and cleared the ministry to declare the results.
The primary school students who sat for their final primary leaving examinations did not receive their results last year while the secondary school candidates did not sit for their final examinations.
The Ministry of General Education and Instruction released the results of the 2020 Certificate of Primary Education Examinations in July this year where Unity State was rated the best followed by Jonglei State.
However, the best schools were JCC Hai Negil Primary School followed by Kings Academy which are schools within Central Equatoria State but the secondary examination results remained undeclared.
Acuil told the media after their closed-door meeting that President Kiir had directed the ministry to announce the results according to the requirement of the law.
However, Minister Acuil did not disclose when she intends to announce the Secondary School Examinations results. She said they were preparing to announce the results as soon as possible.
“We came as a team from the ministry to brief H.E the President on the context of the National Examination which the marking had been concluded last week and we came here to brief him on the results and performance of all the schools across the country,” she stated.
Lists out
Acuil disclosed that she had also updated the president on the list of the leading schools and the leading students in the national examination countrywide.
The ministry noted a significant improvement in the education system in the country.
“Today was a very important day [because] we got a green light from His Excellency to announce these results which we have got and we will immediately announce these results so that the students who are joining the universities can now join the universities,” she said.
The South Sudan Secondary School Examination marking begun on August 26, 2021, but the exams were administered on March 2021.
On March, 23, while ringing the bell for the start of the examination, President Kiir urged the then Senior Four candidates sitting for exams to embrace courage and overcome their fear and fever.
Kiir revealed that 34,536 candidates were sitting for the examination and out of these were 11,716 females and 22,820 males.
He said there was a plan to close the gap so that boys and girls are always equal in class. The long-term goal is to ensure that when they graduate, they [can] use the same opportunities to compete for the government positions.
“My children, there is nothing to fear about [exams]. It is always understood that when such a time comes, some of you will start to tremble. This is not a new phenomenon, it has been there throughout but I want to tell you that have courage and you apply all that you have been taught.”
