Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, H.E. Gen. Charles Madut Akol, has officially launched the rehabilitation of the Wanyjok–Majok-Yinthiou road, a vital 100-kilometre strategic link connecting Aweil East County headquarters to Majok-Yinthiou Municipality along the South Sudan–Sudan border.

The launch ceremony took place on Tuesday at Mabior-Angony in Baac Payam, and was attended by senior state officials, the Commissioner of Aweil East County, the Deputy Mayor of Majok-Yinthiou Municipality, and representatives of border clearing agencies.

Funding for the works comes from contributions by clearing agents and local community members, while the state and county governments are providing technical and logistical support.

Once completed, the road is expected to significantly improve cross-border trade, ease movement of people and goods, expand access to basic services, and strengthen economic and social ties between communities on both sides of the border.
