The Vice President for Gender and Youth Affairs Rebecca Nyandeng Garang De Mabior has jetted in the country from Nairobi, Kenya, after healing from the coronavirus.
An update from VP Nyandeng’s Twitter page revealed that she jetted at the Juba International Airport on Thursday, 7pm, alongside family members and ministry officials.
“I have been given a clean bill of health and I am very happy to be back home. I am also grateful to the president and all those who wished me well. May God extend his mercy to you all,’’ she said, as quoted in the Twitter post.
She tested positive on March 18, 2021, in Nairobi, but her office alleviated fears that she was stable.
“The results came out today and yes she is positive, thank God she is in good health and isolated for two weeks in Nairobi,’’ a tweet from the VP’s office read on that day.
The office then revealed on April 12 that the VP tested negative after going through a successful treatment program.
The tweet read: ‘‘the office of the Vice President is pleased to report that over the weekend H.E. Rebecca N. de Mabior has tested Covid-19 NEGATIVE and is feeling fit and healthy. Thank you all your prayers and words of encouragement.’’
On Tuesday, April 21, she became one of the latest senior government officials to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
