I’m not controversial-Mayen

People have got lots to read or hear about Peter Mayen Majonjongdit (pictured), Minster of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, but have no or little knowledge about him.

Mayen has put it crystal clear here that he is not what people take him for, but a loyal citizen committed to his role and to ensure South Sudan realize justice, peace and prosperity.

“I am not controversial in any manner. I am performing my duties as a minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disasters Management. I am performing my duty as a signatory to the agreement, I am performing my duty as a head of coalition, the umbrella political party and I am also performing my duty as a Chair of People’s Liberal Party.”

“So, I am performing my duty in all these areas and this requires me to be busy, requires me to be focused, requires me to be vigilant and understandable. Much as it is said, I will only care when I have done wrong,” Minister Mayen said in an interview with City Review on Friday.

Mr. Mayen’s conducts have recently caught public attention, many of whom regarded him as a dramatic controversial leader following his alleged controversial Juba Airport and Awiel women football match incidents.

Media reports alleged passengers pushed Mr. Mayen out as he tried to board a plane with COVID-19 positive result. On April 17, he was also accused of disrupting football game in his home town, Awiel because his wife participated.

But Mr. Mayen also the chair and representative of Other Political Party (OPP) at a revitalised government of national unity said he was not bordered by baseless allegations.

“I have never been to the airport; the allegations in Aweil are all not true. With all this is something that I say most of them are cooked, non is true. I have never been in the airport. So, why should the media lie to the public. I didn’t fire a gun. I didn’t have a gun. I was there in the field, I have a right, as a family man, to ask my wife for substitution.”

“The media and the public should not force me that I should let my wife who has two months’ baby to play serious football match. I think this is impossible. I don’t know what people want,” Mr. Mayen said.

The Minster finally said most of the ill propaganda against him had been fabricated by his age mates who would want to overthrow him from the office.

“Otherwise, I still remain loyal to my people and I still remain committed to deliver the future and I also remain committed to ensure that South Sudan realize justice, peace and prosperity and future delivered.”

“So, I am focusing on a bigger picture rather than mare allegations and accusations that are just propagated on social media to try to get a man who is performing his duty out.  This thing I don’t think borders me,” he said.
