Chelsea triumphed over Manchester City in the matchday 35 of the Premier League that was expected to hand the Citizens the title should they have won.

Pep Guardiola made nine changes in the lineup resting Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez, Kyle Walker and Zinchencko. Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus played alongside Raheem Sterling in the attack. Phil Foden and Gundogan came in as substitutes.

Thomas Tuchel on the other hand rested Mason Mount, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Kai Havertz and Jorginho. Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech lined upfront as Ngolo Kante and Billy Gilmour played in midfield.

Man City leapt in front a few minutes to the end of the first half after Raheem Sterling scored from Jesus’ cross. Two minutes later, the host got a penalty after Gilmour was adjudged to have brought down Jesus inside the box.

Edouard Mendy comfortably collected Sergio Aguero’s attempted panenka leaving the Argentine with an embarrassment.

In the second half, Ziyech scored from outside the box and the game was level for the better part of the second half. Marcos Alonso then scored from Timo Werner’s cross to put the Blues ahead in the 91st minute.

Chelsea and Man City are this season’s Uefa Champions League finalists and they are expected to meet for another duel in Istanbul on May 29.
