Man City clinches EPL championship after Man United clobbered

Manchester City won a third English Premier League title in four years making it a fifth Barclays Premier trophy in their cabinet and level with Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola’s men were supposed to win the title when they hosted Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea but the latter prevailed with 2-1 comeback victory postponing the party.

On Sunday, Manchester United defeated Aston Villa further postponing their crowning. However, the Red Devils’ defeat to Leicester City yesterday only meant that Man City would officially be declared the champions of England. They are 10 points ahead of Man United with three games to go. This means that there was no way they would lose the title even if they lost all the matches and Man United won the remainder of the matches.

The Citizens still have a big clash in the Uefa Champions League final against Chelsea come May 29.

Pep Guardiola issued a statement saying ‘‘this has been a season and a Premier League title like no other. This was the hardest one.

We will always remember this season for that way and I am so proud.’’
