UCL: Hazard-Chelsea reunion looms as City and PSG eye ‘El Cashico’ clash

Real Madrid marquee summer signing Eden Hazard is poised to meet his former teammates at Chelsea this time as an opponent after the Los Blancos drew the Blues at the Uefa Champions League semifinal.

Hazard finished a big money move to Madrid last year but he has spent a better part of his stint on the sidelines with on and off injuries. He came from a muscle injury to train with the team but did not make it to the squad that travelled to Anfield on Wednesday, April 14.

Real advanced to the semifinal after beating Liverpool 3-1 at Santiago Bernabeu before proceeding to register a goalless draw against the English outfit at Anfield.

A brace from Vinicius Jr and a goal from Marco Asensio slotted the Spanish champions for an emphatic victory against Liverpool-that has suffered torrid results in domestic league.

Mo Salah struck Liverpool’s only goal, but a rock solid display by the Spanish side ensured that the dangerous Liverpool attack would not nick anything from the return leg.

Zidane will be hoping to have the services of Hazard against his former exployers. As for Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel, should he play, Hazard will be a key danger man to watch out after playing at Chelsea for seven seasons and farmiliarising with Chelsea players.

El Cashico

Another mouthwatering clash will pit PSG and Manchester City in what most people view as the ‘El Cashico’ battle, owing to the huge expenditure on players by the two teams.

Man City cruised to the semifinals after beating Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in both legs. Phil Foden starred in both legs scoring in each. At Signal Iduna Park, English teenager Jude Bellingham scored for Dortmund while Marco Reus struck in the first leg. Red hot Erling Haaland was a no-show in both legs.

PSG advanced after beating Bayern Munich 3-2 in the first leg and losing 1-0 in the return leg. The Les Parisiens advanced on away goal rule after drawing 3-3 on aggregate.
