Man City thumps Newcastle to tighten grip on EPL lead

Manchester City thumped Newcastle United 4-0 away at St James Park to gain a comfortable lead at the summit of the English Premier League table.
Portuguese defender Ruben Dias opened up the scoring in the fifth minute to put the defending champions in the lead. His compatriot, Joao Cancelo, then doubled the lead in the 27th minute, ensuring that the league leaders broke for the first half with an extended lead.
In the second half, Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling struck in the 63rd and 86th minutes respectively to ensure a massive win.
Elsewhere, Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspurs. English forward Harry Kane got the Lilywhites off the mark with an opener which was cancelled by Diogo Jota’s equalizer. Son Heung-Min scored a second for Spurs before Andy Robertson cancelled it.
Chelsea were also held to a 0-0 draw with Wolves away.
Man City sits at the top with 44 points, three points ahead of Liverpool and six points ahead of Chelsea.
