An unidentified armed group attacked and injured a truck driver along Juba-Mundri road on Tuesday. The driver said the gang members looted his property and stripped him naked too.
“I came under attack between Jambu and Lanyi, where some armed criminals appeared in front of me and start shooting at me from the left-hand side of the road. I stopped, then they ordered me to come out and I obeyed their directives,” the driver narrated to The City Review after his arrival in Juba.
According to the driver, the attackers instructed him not to look at their faces and but lie down while facing the ground.
He further added that the armed criminals entered his truck and got a few belongings before they lastly ordered him to remove the clothes he was wearing.
“After they took some of my belongings from the truck including the money and my two phones they still asked me to give more money,” he revealed.
“I told them what I had was the one they got in the vehicles nothing more and another was telling their colleagues to shoot me but they did not agree with another guy, thank God for being my saviour,” he said with tears.
However, he said the group did not beat him apart from one guy who advised the colleagues to shoot him.
“What they did last was that they ordered me to remove my clothes including the trouser and the pad. Since I did not want more troubles I did exactly what they told me and then they instructed me to look down until they disappear,” he said.
The driver said he has no choice but to drive from there to Rukon County where someone helped him with clothes.
When contacted, Margert Fozia Emmanuel the Mundri East County Commission confirmed the incident.
“I got the information that there was an ambush in the area but am yet to get more details because I was not there, I have been somewhere out of the county,” she said.
“The information I got [was] that the criminals attacked a vehicle…the good thing is they did not kill or injure anyone,” she added.
