Adil said the nurses and midwives play an important in society, hence, the government and partners have to invest resources for the development and improvement of the profession.
He was speaking during the 4th-5th batches of the graduation ceremony of the 99 nurses and midwives of Juba Nursing and Midwifery Institute at Nyakuron on Friday.
Adil said nurses and midwives provide preventive and curative health services at the state and counties levels.
“Government together with health partners will create an enabling environment for all health practitioners especially the nurses to discharge their designated duties across the state and the entire country,” said Adil.
He said the State Ministry of Health and Nursing Institute will partner to produce more nurses and midwives to be able to deal with the new development in medical technology while serving humanity.
Among the 99 graduates, 63 were awarded a Diploma in Nursing and 36 were awarded a Diploma in Midwifery.
The State Minister of Health, Nejua Juma, said there is a need to increase support to extend training and employment opportunities for nurses and midwives, especially in public health.
She said the State Ministry of Health works closely with the partners to provide the capacity of the health care providers as the State move toward universal health care.
Juba County Commissioner, Charles Joseph Wani urged the fresh professionals to put the knowledge and the skills they acquired into practice by applying ethical standards.
His sentiments were echoed by the Principal of the Institute, Marchellino Tombe, who urged the graduates to continue learning the skills and knowledge to meet the dynamic need of the healthcare sector as they do their work.
Having listened to their confronting challenges at the Institute, Governor Adil donated two buses to the management of the Institute to address some of their mobility-related challenges facing the facility.
