Central Equatoria State has warned against illegal demarcation of land in Juba City.
This was resolved in a security committee meeting chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Friday.
The meeting also reported several criminal cases registered in the state, particularly within the capital, Juba, by some groups of gangs.
At the meeting, the committee noted that illegal allotment and demarcation of plots is still ongoing in Juba city and directed the security apparatus to strengthen their surveillance to apprehend those involved in such activities in the state.
Warning issued
Speaking after the meeting, Eng. Charles Joseph, the commissioner of Juba County and the spokesperson of the committee, said the state government will not entertain the practice of land grabbing.
“We, as a security committee of the state, have come up with great concerns. We don’t want to encourage certain activities to continue in all parts of Central Equatoria, especially in Juba County and the Juba City Council.
“Also, the security committee has come up with a directive to the leadership of Juba City Council to continue opening the roads within Juba City to continue making the road networks within the city.”
The security committee tasked the administration of the Juba City Council to continue opening roads within the residences in the city to avert traffic congestion on the main roads.
It also called on the public to cooperate with the city authorities in opening the roads to ensure they accomplish the objective of the state government and the local government of delivering service to the people and facilitating easy passage for road users.
