Shisha man shot in cold blood in Aweil
A 31-year-old shisha seller identified as Geng Maduok Dut was shot dead by two unidentified assailants at 2:45am in Mathiang residential area, West of the University of Northern Bahr el Ghazal.
An eyewitness who spoke to The City Review said the incident seems to have been an organised killing by gang members.
“They arrived and began to throw abusive words in an attempt to recognise the voice of their target and when they noticed their target, the armed men fired three bullets on the man’s chest,” the eyewitness recalled.
He added that after the assailants had finished their mission, one was heard saying as they left: ‘‘we finished what we came for, so don’t kill any other innocent person.’’
Meanwhile, police officers have commenced a manhunt for a 20-year-old man suspected to have killed his father at 3 am before escaping.
The State Police Spokesperson, Cpt GuotGuot Akol, is urging citizens to cooperate in this matter as the incident is now termed “top priority”.
“They should not hesitate to report any information related to the incident. The incident itself is the first of its nature and thus needs to be handled with one spirit: the spirit of cooperation. The perpetrators must be brought to book,” he appealed.
He also encouraged the citizens not to panic because the police have seen the issue as targeted killing as a result of personal problems between the deceased and fugitives.
“The problem was confirmed by the late before he died,” said Akol.
