The Central Equatoria State (CES) minister of information and communication Paulino Obedo has been indefinitely suspended from his duties in just less than three months after his appointment.
Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony (pictured) suspended Lukudu over the weekend in a gubernatorial order No: 19/2021 issued on May 16, 2021.
“The order shall be cited as gubernatorial; order No: 19/2021, for the indefinite suspension of Hon. Paulino Lukudu Obedo, Minister of Information and Communication, Central Equatoria State, 2021, AD,” the order partially read.
However, Mr. Adil cited the Republican Decree No: 5/2020 that appointed him as governor, read together with Article 99 (K) (1) of the CES transitional constitution, as granted powers for suspending Mr. Lukudu.
No reason was mentioned for the suspension of Mr. Lukudu who is member of African National Congress (ANC), representing Other Opposition Parties (OPP) in the state coalition government.
Efforts to get comments from the office of governor Adil was unsuccessful by the time of publishing this story as several phone calls to the governor’s press secretary, Derick Dericson, went unanswered.
Mr. Lukudu’s suspension came in the backdrop of uncompleted 100 days for the newly appointed officials to exhibit proof of their capacity, in delivering services following President Kiir constituted CES revitalised government on February 20 this year.
