Acuei reaffirms Majur’s suspension from duties

The national Minister of Health Elizabeth Acuei has reaffirmed the suspension of Dr Victoria Majur as the undersecretary for the ministry.

Acuei emphasised that Dr Majur is currently serving her suspension pursuant to the ministerial order she issued last week after the appointment saga.

She sent a memo yesterday to all the stakeholders notifying them that the suspension stands.

Her statement read: ‘‘This is to notify all health partners that Dr Victoria Anib Majur is currently under suspension from her duties as the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Health.

‘‘Dr Samson Baba Paul, the advisor on Community Health and Special Programmes has been assigned to serve as the Acting Undersecretary for Health with effect from October 20, 2021’’.

She directed all the health partners and stakeholders in the ministry to channel their communication to Dr Paul, who serves on an acting capacity.

Her statement comes days after President Salva Kiir tasked the Presidential Security Advisor Tut Gatluak to resolve the issues bedevilling the ministry.

A deadlock was ensured after the Vice President of Service Cluster Hussein Abdelbagi directed Majur to make changes in the ministry- a reshuffling which changed the face of the country’s main referral hospital: Juba Teaching Hospital.

However, the minister issued an order revoking the appointments citing constitutional breach. Last week, Acuei suspended Majur and ordered for a three-month probe into the saga which has raised eyebrows.
