Kiir sacks Nilepet boss Bol

President Salva Kiir on Thursday sacked Bol Ring Mourwel from his position as the Managing Director of the state-owned oil company –Nile Petroleum Corporation (Nilepet).
No reason was cited for the sacking of Mr Ring who has served for only a year since his appointment in September 2020. His successor was also not mentioned.
Before he was appointed the Nilepet Managing Director, Mr Ring was the President of Nile Drilling-South Sudan’s first local drilling firm and Nilepet’s joint venture company.
The national oil company, established in 2009— two years before South Sudan’s independence in 2011— has now seen three different faces within the past six years since 2015 with Mr Ring the third.
Mr Ring’s removal followed series of decrees the President has issued recently, relieving and appointing officials in national and states revitalised government without mentioning the reasons as usual.
On Wednesday, Kiir relieved Northern Bahr el Ghazal State’s officials –Minister of Information and Communication and Minister Education and Instruction and immediately replaced them.
