JUBA – At least 10 people have been recovered from suspected abductors in Jonglei State.
The victims who include seven children and three mothers were recovered on Monday by the government of Jonglei.
This comes in an exchange arrangement with the State government of Greater Pibor Administrative Area after criminals abducted the victims last year.
The incident happened during the wave of community conflict between the two communities in both states.
Speaking to City Review on phone yesterday [Wednesday], the Minister of Information, Culture Youth and Sport in Pibor Administrative Area, Jay Adingora Alual, said the children and mothers were recovered in Duk County in Greater Pibor.
“There are many children and mothers who are still missing,” said Alual.
“We have communicated to the state government of Jonglei because we want to see that those children and mothers—who are still missing—are brought back and reunited with their relatives,” he added.
The Minister revealed that the neighboring state governments are working hard to make sure that the suspected criminals are apprehended.
Earlier this year, the Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area, Julia James, said two states were committed to ending all forms of child abuse.
