Man arrested in Magwi for shooting sister with arrow

JUBA – A 29-year-old man from Obbo Payam of Magwi County in Eastern Equatoria State is in police custody after he shot at his sister with an arrow and injured her.
According to the area head chief, Ringo Filbert Okumo, the suspect had aimed to shoot at a pastor during an evening prayer but missed him hence piercing the girl.
Otto John, a resident of Kenya one village is said to have warned his sisters several times not to attend the fellowships often conducted in the area.
The incident happened last week on Sunday.
According to the head chief, the suspect’s sisters had attended the church service contrary to his earlier warning that they should not be part of the congregation.
Mr. Okumo said the man warned the man got infuriated when he arrived home in the evening only to find the girls coming from the prayers, confirming his fears that they had defied his warning.
He narrated that Mr. Otto picked an arrow and a bow to scare the sisters but unfortunately he shot at one of the girls and injured her.
Ring said the man was still in police custody waiting for the issue to be addressed after which he would return to Magwi where he went to attend one week workshop.
However, he said the condition of the girl was stable and recovering well.
“Their house is just next to my home but the incident happened by surprise when I had left for a workshop organized by care international and I will resolve the problem when I return,” Ringo said.
Lt. Michael Koko said the suspect admitted that he intended to shoot at the pastor, but the arrow landed on the cousin’s sister.
