Council churches youth call for dialogue among leaders

South Sudan Council of Churches Youth Desk has expressed concerns about the rising tensions and armed violence in the country.

The team led by Mr. Duar Gabriel Biel,the National Youth Coordinator for  South Sudan Council of Churches acknowledged and appreciated the ongoing efforts of the  Head of Churches involvement in promoting peaceful dialogue among the  political leaders in order to de-escalate poblicat tension and armed conflict in the country.

He added, “In our prayers and sympathy with the youth, children, women, elderly and the people with disabilities who bears the burden of this conflict,” he said.

Gabriel called on the youth to promote  peace and harmony,  reject falsehoods and embrace non-violence.

He also urged the youth to embrace patriotism and national unity to refrain from spreading misinformation and hate speeches on social media.

The youth of faith should distant themselves from the spread of false information that fuels tensions in the country and use non-violent means to express their rights and concerns.”

“We urge national leaders to prioritize dialogue and set an example for future generations. As the Bible says in Luke 6:36, Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful,” Gabriel added.

He noted that the steps taken by international, regional and local communities are recognized and supported by the youth of South Sudan Council of Churches while reaffirming their commitment to peace and harmony in South Sudan as the God-given country.

“We choose to be part of the solution rather than contributing to the problem, as the Bible reminds us in Matthew 5:9, Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called Children of God,” he state.
