The Governor of Jonglei State Dr. Riek Gai Kok on Thursday visited Leudiet Market in Bor, where he was welcomed by traders in song and praise due to his efforts in modernizing the market’s infrastructure.

During his visit, Governor Riek inspected the area earmarked for construction of the new Leudiet Port  and assured traders of the project’s benefits.

“This project is for the benefit of our people and the traders. We are not displacing anyone to bring in new traders. Existing traders will be given priority, so there is no need for panic.” Governor Riek told traders .

He urged them to cooperate with the state government to ensure the intended project is implemented.

“We are modernizing, organizing and bringing order to our markets. This will not only enhance trading activities but also enable us to properly identify traders and facilitate access to credit facilities that will help them expand their businesses,” he said.

He described the project as a “win-win situation” and called on market leaders to inform their members about the need for cooperation.

Governor Riek reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies that directly improve people’s lives. He said the goal is to create a market where people can conduct business with ease and security.

He added that the Leudier Market project is a model that his administration plans to replicate across the state to improve the living standards of all citizens.
