The Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, Simon Ober Mawut, on Thursday chaired the 16th ordinary sitting of the Council of Ministers at the State Secretariat General in Aweil, where two significant memos were tabled for deliberation and approval.

The memos were presented by the State Minister of Trade and Industry, Mary Nyakaka Gatwech, and the Secretary General of the State Government, Hon. Victor Akook Anei. After detailed discussions, the Council approved both with clear financial allocations aimed at improving the working environment of state institutions.

According to the resolutions, the Council approved the sum of USD $108,000 for the renovation of the State Coordination Office in Juba and the Council of Ministers Meeting Hall in Aweil. Additionally, the Council endorsed with amendments an allocation of South Sudanese Pounds 122 million for the construction of the State Ministry of Trade and Industry’s perimeter wall.

Speaking after the sitting, Governor Mawut emphasized the importance of the two memos, describing them as vital steps toward strengthening service delivery and institutional capacity.

“The approval of these two memos shows the government’s determination to improve the working environment of public servants. A renovated Coordination Office in Juba will ensure smooth communication between the state and the national government, while the construction of a perimeter wall at the State Ministry of Trade and Industry will provide security and order for the ministry,” Governor Mawut said.

Hon. Mary Nyakaka Gatwech, who presented one of the memos, stressed that infrastructure investment is key to ensuring efficiency and productivity in the state’s institutions.

“These memos were designed to address critical gaps in infrastructure. The Ministry of Trade and Industry must operate in a secure environment, and our coordination office in Juba should reflect the image of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State at the national level,” she explained.

The Secretary General of the State Government, Hon. Victor Akook Anei, whose memo on the renovation of the Coordination Office was also endorsed, highlighted that the move would significantly enhance administrative efficiency.

“The renovation of our Coordination Office in Juba is not just about buildings, but about strengthening the bridge between our state and the national government. It will improve service delivery and ensure our officials have a conducive working environment,” Akook Anei noted.

The approval of the two memos is part of the State Government’s broader efforts to improve infrastructure, institutional effectiveness, and the overall delivery of public services. Officials said the decision also signals the government’s commitment to ensuring accountability in resource allocation for the benefit of citizens.

Governor Mawut concluded by reaffirming that the Council of Ministers would continue to prioritize memos that directly contribute to development and the well-being of the people of Northern Bahr el Ghazal.

“We will keep working on practical solutions. Our Council is determined to make decisions that improve governance and create opportunities for our citizens,” he added.
