Dr Igga urges SPLM to capture power democratically

The Vice President in charge of the Economic Cluster, Dr Wani Igga (pictured), has urged the SPLM party to strategise and capture power democratically.

“In every party, you are there to capture power …and maintain power so since it is our turn and we are the ruling party let us do all the good things we can to maintain the power,” Salva Kiir read the names of nominees of parliamentary leaders.  

He advised, “So please do not do things that will make you be despised by our population, do things that will make the SPLM be loved by our people.  This is important so that we gain their support by doing the right.”

 Igga underlined the intentions of the political party saying the parliament was going to become more complex than any other time before, and that, there was a need for the party to continue with the good work.

He underpinned the need for national unity and party unity in the parliament.   

 “If you are divided in the party as well as in the parliament and any other institution for that matter; then your party is finished. Ensure and promote good governance transparency and accountability and also to promote rule of law.”

Igga said the aim of the party was also the protection against all forms of discrimination. In this regard, he said the party was eager to promote gender equality for the progressive economy in the country.

“So you are going to go to the parliament comrades at the time when our economy is suffering first from the civil war that has gone. Also, [there is the] coronaviruses so it is going to be a difficult time. You may soon start hurting the new speaker or even the finance because he or she failed to give you your usual privileges,” he warned.
