Saul Niguez completes loan move to Chelsea

JUBA – European champions Chelsea Football Club has completed the signing of Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez on a season-long loan.
Chelsea paid £3.4m (€4m), with the Blues having the option to make the deal permanent for £30m (€35m) next summer according to Sky Sports.
Saul was part of Diego Simeone’s squad that inspired Atletico Madrid to La Liga glory last season.
Speaking to Chelsea FC’s official website Wednesday, the Spain international said: “I am very excited to start this new challenge with Chelsea.
“Blues fans; I am one of you now and I can’t wait to wear the shirt, start training and see all of you. See you soon!”
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia heaped praise on the 26-year-old midfielder describing him as a “proven winner”.
“We welcome Saul to the club and believe he completes our squad as we compete for honors in five different competitions this season,” the director said.
“He is a proven winner, a player with huge experience and we know he will be very well-suited to the challenges that face us on all fronts in the coming year,” Marina added.
Saul made over 300 appearances for Atletico after breaking into the first team as a 17-year-old in 2012.
Besides getting crowned La Liga champion last season, Saul also won two Europa League titles and the Copa del Rey during his time with the Spanish outfit.
His move to Chelsea will be a boost to an already outstanding Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
