10 armed men assault woman to death in Warrap

At least 10 armed men are in police custody in Aweg Payam in Twic County of Warrap State after assaulting a 45-year-old woman to death.
The State Minister of Information and Communication in Warrap, Ring Deng, said Ajiid Malim Atem was assaulted and killed after the men suspected her son (23) of stealing cattle in Marial Maper village.
The son of the deceased is a suspected thief and had an arrest warrant issued against him. However, his whereabouts remained unknown.
According to the Information Minister, this prompted the group of men to hunt down his close relatives and the mother fell victim.
Mr Deng said the culprits have been detained and would be arraigned to court to face trial.
Warrap State is among regions infamous for revenge killings and cattle raiding. In October this year, 36 people were after clashes erupted between four communities within the state.
On 17th October, a team compromising officials from the United Nations Mission in South Sudan and Warrap State government went to Tonj, a hot seat for violence in the state.
The visit was aimed at finding an amicable solution to the conflict that UNMISS said had caused huge harm to communities.
This came almost a month after World Vision facilitated a community-focused dialogue to foster peace and harmony among warring communities.
