Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony and National Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Clement Juma, have held talks on accelerating the implementation of key resolutions agreed at last month’s South Sudan Agriculture Conference 2026.

The meeting came during a courtesy visit by Minister Juma, who briefed the Governor on follow-up actions planned to turn the conference’s outcomes into tangible results across the state and the country at large.

Both leaders highlighted priority areas including empowering farmers to shift from subsistence to commercial production, creating an enabling environment for private sector investment, and adopting climate-smart technologies. They noted that these measures are critical to reducing South Sudan’s long-standing dependence on food imports and building sustainable food systems.

A major focus of the discussion was security, with both officials agreeing that farmers must be able to access their lands in rural areas without fear. They reaffirmed plans to convene multi-sectoral meetings involving security agencies and government bodies to address insecurity and ensure safe farming activities.

Governor Adil and Minister Juma concluded by calling on citizens to actively engage in agriculture, saying increased participation will help eradicate hunger, diversify the economy, and create jobs for thousands of young people.

“The future of our food security and economic prosperity lies in our land. We must work together to remove barriers — whether technical, financial or security-related — so that agriculture becomes the backbone of our nation’s development,” they stated jointly.
